All About Water

Drinking enough water replenishes the natural hydration levels in our bodies – we are in fact made up of nearly 70% water!  Not only can not drinking enough water have an effect on our daily mental abilities, but it can also affect our physical appearances too.  Drinking plenty of water will help to give you a glowing clear complexion, glossy hair, stronger bones and can actually help to reduce the risk of many serious diseases such as diabetes and coronary dysfunction.
It is recommended that we should all drink regularly throughout the day – waiting until you are thirsty is too late as thirst is a sign from your body that you are already dehydrated!  Not only can we become dehydrated during the hot summer months, but many people forget about the same effects caused throughout the winter months.  Our modern central heating systems remove the natural moisture in the air, making it dry and stuffy, therefore we should all remember to continue to drink water regularly throughout the day.
Drinking too little water during the day can lead to you feeling sluggish with poor concentration, leading to headaches and tiredness.  It would be easy to think that a cup of coffee or tea would help this – but no, drinking caffeine based drinks actually reduces your hydration levels even more!  The way to combat these symptoms is to drink water, thereby re-hydrating the body naturally.  As our brain tissue is more than 80% fluid, drinking enough water can actually increase concentration levels and productivity.  A well hydrated person will feel refreshed, more revitalised and full of energy.
A handy way to check if you are drinking enough water is to pinch the back of your hand whilst resting it on a flat surface.  When you release the pinch, the skin should snap back into place.  If it is slow in doing this, you are probably dehydrated.  Remember to drink water even when you don't feel thirsty; by the time you feel thirsty your body has lost between 2 and 5 cups of water!
Our bodies also require water to allow it to metabolise food and nutrients and flush out harmful toxins.  These toxins clog-up our body’s natural balance, making us feel lethargic and irritable, with lifeless hair and skin.  Water is the most perfect and natural solution to combat these symptoms as it is rapidly absorbed into the body, which can achieve almost miraculous results.

What better ‘pick-me-up’ is there than a cup of nice cool fresh and clear water – instantly refreshing.
